The firm was founded in 1952, when Harold Roth enlisted his brother-in-law through marriage, Forrest Bacon to serve as partners. During this time, it was not uncommon to serve also in public capacity. Harold did so as the County Prosecutor and during his four-year stint, presided over the Red Slipper murder case, infamous at the time. Forrest Bacon proceeded him and served as the Prosecutor for 28 years thereafter.
In 1972, Harold’s son, Jeffrey Roth joined the family firm and brought with it Florida licensure. Forrest’s son, David Bacon joined in 1977. Other family and friends have come and gone, including but not limited to: Kenneth Young, now the CEO of United Church Homes, and Jonathan Miller, deceased, who also held the office of Wyandot County Prosecutor.
In 2010, David’s daughter Jessica Moon joined the firm, establishing the 3rd generation of family attorneys at Roth & Bacon. Recognizing the importance of being able to provide counsel to the many clients who live in both Ohio & Florida, Jessica sat for & passed the Florida Bar, and inspired her father to return to earn his Florida licensure as well, 33 years after passing the Ohio Bar. In 2018, Jessica was made a partner, and the firm officially became Roth Bacon Moon.
